The ER through the eyes of a scribe: comical, educational, and occasionally chaotic.
I'm a medical scribe in a busy ED with a front-row seat to the weird, the wild, and the lifesaving. The Scribing 101 page and Scribery Blog capture the lessons, laughs, and sheer unpredictability of the job, for new scribes, curious readers, and anyone who thinks scribing is just a quiet desk job.
Real Cases
The Scribery Blog is dedicated to the real-life patient encounters I witness during my shifts as a medical scribe. Each post reflects not only the clinical details of the case, but also how it made me feel, what it made me think, and what I learned. These are stories that stuck with me, not just because of what happened, but because of what they revealed about medicine, humanity, and the quiet moments in between.

I was typing up my notes when a ripple of commotion passed behind me. I turned around to see a naked patient confidently strolling down the hallway. A nurse called out, “Sir, you need to get back in your room… you’re not wearing any clothes.” He didn’t stop. Just kept walking, gown flapping behind him like a cape, heading toward other patients’ rooms with the determination of someone who had somewhere to be.
